Cross-Cultural Leadership Internship Program
CCLIP Chicago


Three to four students will be accepted as interns in community-based organizations in the Little Village and Pilsen neighborhoods of Chicago, Cicero and Berwyn. The Center for Social Concerns and the Institute for Latino Studies collaborate to offer this 3-credit course, which is also cross-listed in Theology. Three credit courses to be in Theology, Catholic Social Tradition, or Latino Studies ILS 35801, CST 33933, or THEO 33933.
Objectives
- Students will grow as servant leaders in their work on issues affecting Latino youth and adults in the areas of immigration, violence prevention, community organizing and health care
- Students will learn the theory and practice of community organizing
- Students will understand the methods of leadership development
- Students will address grassroots community issues
- Students will experience the connection between service, policy and social change
- Students will learn how to bring together groups of people for a common goal
- Students will be a part of the faith connection to community organizing

- Corazon Community Services
- Office of Immigrant Affairs and Immigrant Education at the Archdiocese of Chicago
- Interfaith Leadership Project
- Little Village Development Corporation
- The Resurrection Project
- St. Pius V Parish Summer Youth Program at Casa Juan Diego
- Las Caras Lindas Helping Girls to Define Themselves As Women
