Crossroads Gallery, Downtown South Bend
Open Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Institute for Latino Studies is pleased to announce a gallery opening reception at 5:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2009, to celebrate the work of artist Eric Nisly. The reception will be held at the Crossroads Gallery at Notre Dame Downtown in South Bend, Indiana.

Photographer and graphic design artist Eric Nisly has worked as a commercial and portrait photographer, as a graphic designer, and has taught at the university level, both locally and internationally. In Expressions of the Figure, Nisly shows what for him is one of the most elegant subjects in creation, the human figure. Through lines, curves, and shapes, viewers see the figure as beautiful sculpted art in and of itself. By showing only subsections of the figure, Nisly tries to take viewers past looking at the whole of the body and into a new perspective of viewing, not to objectify it, but to magnify it.
