Open Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Institute for Latino Studies is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition “Michael Beatty—Timelines” on display in the Crossroads Gallery for the 2008 winter season. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 5:00–7:00 pm at the Notre Dame Downtown Crossroads Gallery.“Timelines” explores time in many manifestations from photographic to geologic, from universal to personal. Photographer Michael Beatty’s works emerge from multiple processes and multiple steps, each having their own timelines, from hand coloring and encaustic painting to the most modern photographic printing and conservation practices. The works on display result from both the conscious use of process and the serendipity of not being able to predict what a print will look like as it reveals itself. Each of the images is printed multiple times using image transfer and archival UltraChrome pigmented digital printing. The process is long and exacting, with both control and chance, moment by moment, playing a part. This exhibition will run from November 17 to January 16, 2008.
