The Institute for Latino Studies is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition Calaveras y Huesos: Día de los Muertos (Skeletons and Bones: Day of the Dead) on display in the Galería América from November 8, 2007 to January 10, 2008. The opening reception will be held in the Galería, located on the McKenna Hall mezzanine, on Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 5:00-7:00pm.
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday honoring the lives of the deceased and celebrating the continuation of life after death. This exhibition features works of art focusing on this celebration, ranging from very traditional to contemporary portrayals of Día de los Muertos. Items on display in the exhibition include commemorative prints, flyers for celebrations, and mixed media works.

The Galería América is open daily, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
