ILS Outreach...Strengthening Community

From the grassroots to government, the Institute follows its mission to strengthen Latino communities–at Notre Dame, locally, in the Midwest, and nationally–by

  • disseminating policy-relevant information on Latino issues;
  • putting people in touch with each other–fostering institutional partnerships
  • supporting community activism;
  • assessing community needs, quality of services provided, and accessibility issues
  • sponsoring educational and cultural events and exhibitions.

The Institute actively pursues interdepartmental cooperation and institutional partnerships to bring the University's values and strength to bear on the vitality of Latino community life in the United States. The Institute also cooperates with many national and local organizations to support the advancement of Latinos in American society. The ILS regularly sponsors lectures, conferences, exhibits and cultural gatherings for the Notre Dame community and the general public.
