Vive Ligero

Vive Ligero

An initiative of the Inter-University Program for Latino Research (IUPLR) in conjunction with the Office of Minority Health, a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services, this campaign aims to increase awareness among Latinos about issues of weight and healthy living in an effort to break the pattern of obesity in our society today. Building upon established partnerships in Latino communities across the United States, IUPLR has created this national obesity prevention campaign, utilizing a bilingual, culturally attuned approach to weight issues, education, and health promotion that targets US born and immigrant Latinos and Latinas, of all ages, education and income levels.

MidLAD

Midwest Latino Arts Documentary Heritage Project

The Midwest Latino Arts Documentary Heritage Project (MidLAD) is an ongoing, multi-year initiative to locate and preserve primary sources critical to the study of the history of Latino arts and to the understanding of its contribution to American culture and to our communities. With support from The Getty Foundation, this project was developed to help ensure that these important primary sources that document Latino art history, culture, and American society are not lost.

Equity Index

Latino Educational Equity Index

Funded by a grant from Edison Learning, the Latino Educational Equity Index presents a more balanced view of educational gaps than is possible from viewing educational achievement data alone by juxtaposing achievement data with information about access to in-school resources and exposure to out-of-school factors known to correspond to learning outcomes. The web site displays nine achievement indicators and nine learning-resource and environment indicators as well as a summary description of the status of Latino and non-Latino white students for each state.
