Immigration Week 2014: You Are Being Called


-Monday, February 24 – Call to Unity: Immigration Celebration, 8-9pm, LaFun Ballroom

Come to the Lafortune Ballroom to watch cultural performances and food! The diverse heritages and cultural clubs of the Notre Dame's Student Body will be represented including MariachiNDBallet Folklorico Azul Y Oro, Coro Primavera, & Irish Dance. Additionally, Professor Karen Richman will be giving an overview of the immigration issue. If you are part of a cultural group that would like to perform, please reach out to us! The more, the merrier!

-Tuesday, February 25 – Call to Engagement: Immigration Debate/Discussion, 9:30-10:30, Montgomery Auditiorium

Join us for a political discussion on immigration reform! What does it include? What should it include? What shouldn't it include? All perspectives are encouraged to participate and we will have facts and figures to begin the conversation!

 

-Wednesday, February 26 - Call to Action: Political Advocacy, 7:30-9pm, LaFun Elevator Lobby and Documentary Watch, 6-8pm, Montgomery Auditorium

Come together with the Notre Dame community to demand immigration reform from local politicians. The documentary by Fr. Groody, Dying to Live, will be screened in the Montgomery Auditorium beginning at 6pm in the Montgomery Auditorium. Additionally, there will be computers to sign an online petition provided by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Justice for Immigrants Campaign at 7:30-9pm in the Elevator Lobby of LaFun. Use this time to involve yourself politically with this issue and learn more about what you can do.

-Thursday, February 27 – Call to Serve: Trip to La Casa de Amistad, 4:30-7pm, La Casa

Come with your friends to assist in leading a Citizenship Class at La Casa and learn more about opportunities for service in the South Bend community. Additionally, learn about the immigration issue and how it impacts the local South Bend area. Transportation will be provided from Library Circle at 4:30PM. 

 

-Friday, February 28 – Call To Prayer: Immigration Mass, 4pm, Geddes Hall Chapel

Join us for mass with Fr. Joe Corpora, C.S.C. in the Geddes Hall Chapel! We will finish off Immigration Week by praying for compassionate immigration reform and for the well-being of all the world's immigrants.

 

The Institute for Latino Studies will be sponsoring The Church and Immigration Conference March 2-5 here at the University of Notre Dame!
