Concert: Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca

Ricardo Lemvo

The Institute for Latino Studies, in conjunction with the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, is proud to welcome Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca. Ricardo Lemvo sings while his L.A.-based band serves up complex Afro-Cuban horn riffs and percussion rhythms in concerts that get audiences dancing to love, life and party songs in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Lingala and Kikongo.

This performance is the second of the season’s Big 3 exploring the Latin and African diaspora through music, dance and song. A hybrid of Cuban salsa and African rumba, the music of Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca strikes a balance between bold horns and intricate percussion, framed by spiraling melodies. The result is a textured and danceable sound, rich with life and passion. A Latin dance after-party with cash bar immediately follows.
