Letras Latinas, the literary initiative of the Institute for Latino Studies, presents Emmy Pérez performing her poetry.

 

A native of Santa Ana, California and associate professor at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Emmy Pérez is the author of With the River on Our Face. A graduate of University of Southern California (BA) and Columbia University (MFA), Perez was awarded the 2017 National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in poetry. Her work has been featured in various literary journals and anthologies, including A Broken Thing: Poets on the Line (University of Iowa Press) and IMANIMAN: Poets Reflect on Transformative & Transgressive Borders in Gloria Anzaldúa's Work (Aunt Lute Books). 

A pre-event reception will begin at 6:15 pm at Galería América @ ND, 230 McKenna Hall.
