Brunch Biblioteca

The Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley is building a new Community Service partnership with Holy Cross Catholic School in South Bend. The parish is run by CSC priests, and the school is implementing an innovative Spanish immersion program with the help of the Notre Dame ACE program and the Notre Dame Institute for Latino Studies. The kindergarten class pairs 10 children with Spanish as a first language with 10 children with English as a first language. The students spend 90% of their instruction time in Spanish, moving to 50-50 Spanish-English by the 4th grade. Not only does this produce bilingual children, but it also brings together Latino and non-Latino families in the parish. This is a great service opportunity as it is education based and has connections with other Notre Dame programs.

On Wednesday, May 30, the school will be having a fundraiser brunch to raise money for the library. 8:15am mass, 9am brunch, 10am tour of the school. 1020 Wilber St., South Bend. This will be a great opportunity to see the school, learn more about what they are doing, and explore options for community service projects. We especially welcome all Latino alumni to the event.
