"Fighting for the Forgotten: The Coalition of Immokalee Workers and the Ongoing Struggle for Farmworker Justice in"
Wednesday, November 28, 5:30 pm, Geddes Hall Coffeehouse

The daughter of California farmworkers, Melody Gonzalez studied Political Science at Notre Dame, where she also honed her activist skills by leading the boycott that led to the severing of the athletic department's relationship with Taco Bell. She has been a food/labor rights activist ever since, first as staff and now as board member of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers in Florida. She and Lucas Benitez -- CIW farmworker-activist -- will discuss the pressing issues of farmworker justice and the unique organizing model of the CIW.
This talk is cosponsored by the Institute for Latino Studies.
