Critical Theory & Expressive Culture

Open to graduate students and advanced undergraduate students.

This course is meant to provide a comprehensive introduction to Marxist theory in relation to expressive culture, or the aesthetic in social life. We begin with the writings of Marx and then move historically through various major re-readings of Marxist thought in relation to aesthetic theory.
