Space at the Snite: Claim Your Space is a continuation of the Student Programming Committee’s semester-long series focusing on the themes of community and belonging. This event, a collaboration between SPC, DreamND, and the Student Coalition for Immigration Advocacy (SCIA), connects these themes to LatinX art in the Snite collection by inviting students to think about belonging in the context of migration and immigration. Participants can take part in conversations around the works on view in the Annenberg Gallery, create zines to share their own experiences with belonging, and screen-print posters with an original design. This event will highlight the voices of students who have themselves experienced migration and immigration and who have navigated the difficulties of claiming space in a new environment.
