Public Lecture by California State Senator Monique Limón hosted by Hesburgh Program in Public Service & the Institute for Latino Studies.
Elected to the Senate in November 2020, she represents the 19th Senate district which includes all of Santa Barbara County and over half of Ventura County. She was born in the 19th district and has continuously served her community as a leader and advocate for causes that advance the quality of life in her community.
For Limón, education and women's issues are top priorities. She has worked with local students at several colleges as an advisor and mentor. As former Commissioner on the Santa Barbara County Commission for Women, she helped connect women in the community to private and public resources. She has a passion for bringing community groups together and building strong coalitions among local civic groups and nonprofit organizations.
