Round 2: Summer CCLP Internship Call for Applications

If you missed the December 1 deadline for internships with our nonprofit partners across the nation, the Institute for Latino Studies is excited to announce that the second round of the application for its Summer 2023 Cross Cultural Leadership Program will open Friday, January 20 and will close on Wednesday, February 15th at noon.

First round placements will be announced January 20, 2023.

Second round placements will be announced by February 24, 2023.

CCLP is an extraordinary opportunity for you to immerse yourself in a lively Latinx organization and community. It will also allow you to increase your understanding and engagement in Latinx populations through the virtual course for three credits, taught by the Professor of the Practice and Undergraduate Studies Director, Dr. Karen Richman.

Round 2 CCLP applications are open to all current First Years, Sophomores, and Juniors, in any major and department. First priority for placements was already provided to Latino Studies Supplementary Majors and Minors in round 1. Room, board, and a meals/transportation stipend of $200/week is provided.  The program is offered at no cost to students. Those who successfully complete the internship and 3-credit course, earn $3,000 by fall 2023.

Program Details

  • 8-week immersion placement in Los Angeles, Chicago, El Paso (June 5-July 28) Chicago students participate in a leadership conference June 1-3. 
    DC is FILLED - waiting list only.
  • 7-week program with 2 courses and service at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón Puerto Rico
  • 5-week program with 1 course and NGO service at El Tecnológico de Monterrey, México, Queretaro campus (FILLED - waiting list only)
  • 3 credits towards Latino Studies course (course credits applied in Fall 2023)
  • Stipend of $200 per week plus housing in a dorm or house in vibrant Latino community
  • Scholarship award of $3,000 upon completion of coursework and service
  • Round-trip flight arrangements and taxi transportation to housing
  • Build community with fellow ND students from diverse backgrounds and majors
  • Weekly meet-ups with ND professor virtually and/or in person
  • Social activities with young ND alumni mentor who lives locally
  • Scholarly and community engagement activities
  • Networking opportunities and cultural events
